Making money is hard. There’s a lot of ways to do it, but it usually goes horribly wrong. Try telling that to the bill collectors, though.
To supplement our income, we use a few ways to monetize our site.
We are an Amazon affiliate. To quote the official line:
“We are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for us to earn fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites.”
This means we may link things we are talking about. For example, let’s say, we’re going on vacation, and talk about places to stay. If you click on the links and go to the Amazon page, and if you then purchase said item, we get a small commission from it. We may link to things that we aren’t especially fond of, and a link is in no way an endorsement of the product. It’s just there because we talked about it.
We may also run some ads on the blog. We’ll keep them out of the way, and we may get something there as well.
We don’t want to say what you should do with the links and ads, but transparency is good here, and so we just wanted to inform you why the stuff’s there.
